Discover how to take part in the UK’s biggest oral health campaign – that’s the message from the Oral Health Foundation as they prepare to exhibit at this year’s BDIA Dental Showcase.

The charity will be helping delegates get the most out of National Smile Month by sharing this year’s campaign themes and by giving advice and information about hosting activities in the practice and out in the local community.

BDIA Dental Showcase takes place between 25 and 26 March at ExCel London and is one of the largest dental exhibitions in the UK.  Over 10,000 people from within the dental profession and industry are expected to be in attendance.

The Oral Health Foundation’s stand can be found at D22, and the charity is inviting attendees to come say hello and spend some time talking with the team about the upcoming campaign.

Delegates will also be able to pickup National Smile Month materials and have the chance to take a Smiley selfie.

Dr Nigel Carter, Chief Executive of the Oral Health Foundation, says: “Every year, we are thrilled that National Smile Month receives such strong support from those within dentistry and we are delighted to have this opportunity to raise awareness of such a great cause.

“One of the most effective ways we can create a healthier population is to improve education.  Dental professionals are a key influencer in helping to form positive learning experiences and effect lasting behavioural changes.  We would love to see you at our stand and have lots of fun with our Smileys.”

National Smile Month takes place between 16 May and 16 June.  During the campaign, the charity is asking people to share four key messages for better oral health:

  • Brush teeth for two minutes, last thing at night and one other time during the day, with a fluoride toothpaste.

  • Clean between your teeth every day with floss or interdental brushes.

  • Cut down how much and how often you have sugary foods and drinks.

  • Visit a dentist regularly.
